Get Ready for Laser Season
We still have a little bit of summer left, which means laser season is right around the corner! If you are scheduled for one of our amazing laser treatments, please be sure to follow a few of our helpful tips to ensure you get the best treatment possible:
No sun exposure for 4-6 weeks before and after your treatment.
Discontinue use of all retinol products 3-5 days prior to your scheduled appointment. We also ask that you refrain from use of sunless tanners for a minimum of 5 days prior to your scheduled appointment.
If you have a history of cold sores or a diagnosis of HSV, you will need a prescription for prophylaxis prior to the procedure. Call our office and we’d be happy to help you with a prescription.
If you have an active cold sore for your appointment, your visit will need to be rescheduled.

GLP-1 Weight-Loss Medications & Cosmetic Surgery: What Patients Should Know
Medications like Ozempic®, Wegovy®, and Mounjaro® have helped many patients achieve significant weight loss and health improvements. Their popularity has been unmatched in pharmaceuticals, as 32 million or 13% of all US adults have tried GLP1s. At the same time, they’ve changed the types of cosmetic concerns we now see. Here’s a balanced overview.
The positives:
Healthier patients: Weight loss can improve blood pressure, diabetes control, and overall surgical candidacy.
More options: Many patients seek facial rejuvenation, skin tightening, and body contouring after weight loss.
Natural results: A majority of GLP-1 patients report preferring subtle, natural-looking aesthetic improvements rather than dramatic changes.
The downsides:
Facial volume loss (“Ozempic face”): Rapid fat loss can make the face appear older or gaunter, increasing interest in fillers or surgical rejuvenation.
Loose skin: Significant or rapid weight loss often leads to excess skin that may also selectively decrease collagen
Surgical timing & safety: GLP-1 medications slow stomach emptying, which may affect anesthesia planning. Guidance on when to pause these medications before surgery is evolving and must be individualized.
Healing & nutrition concerns: Rapid weight loss may affect protein and vitamin levels, which are important for proper healing.
Limited resources: The expense of GLP1s often means that patients don’t have as many resources for elective cosmetic interventions.
How our practice approaches GLP-1 patients:
- We review all weight-loss medications during consultations and pre-operative planning.
- We coordinate with your prescribing provider and anesthesiologist to determine safe medication timing.
- We emphasize nutrition optimization and often stage procedures for safer, more predictable results.
